March 3, 2014

This week was very good! We found a new investigator named Elisabeth! She said that she talked to the missionaries about 3 years ago and wanted to get baptized but never got around to it. She says that she has regretted that decision...until we knocked on her door. Since then she has been actively working towards her new baptism date. She even helped us with our ward activity that we put on.

We had an activity of comida frituras! Which means that everything we made, was fried before we ate it. It was the worst and the best activity we have ever had. Bad because we indulged ourselves in delicious fried foods and good because... a lot of people came and participated.

It is so much fun planning these activities for the people here. It gives everyone the chance to come together and just spend time as families, as neighbors, as members of the church, as people with common goals and interests.

We had the chance to share a message about the book of Mormon and the importance of the scriptures on our lives. We gave every one a piece of paper and told them to write down a note to God. Just a sentence or two about something they want to say to him... maybe their gratitude, their hope, dreams ambitions... then we collected them all.. And then ripped them up in front of their faces. We explained to them that God as well has written notes to us. He has written his dreams for us and his ambitions for us in the scriptures, and when we don’t read them, God feels the same way that they felt when they saw us literally ripping up their notes to God. The lesson was very powerful and the spirit was very strong.

After we ended our thought we told them that we actually didn’t rip up their cards, but that we changed them with other blank pieces of paper.

But it was great to see people finally understand just how important the scriptures are to us. GOD speaks through the scriptures and we can know him better through the words.

Gods work and his glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1 39) but I have learned that that should be our goal as well. We are here on this earth to compete the 2 greatest commandments there is

1. Love and serve God

2. Love and serve our neighbors

The Lord works through us to fulfill his purposes

I love this quote from Thomas S Monson

''the sweetest feeling in life is to feel a prompting and act on it, and later find out that it was the fulfillment of someone’s need. I always want the Lord to know that if he needs an errand to run, I will run that errand for him''

We need to always be ready, because we never know when the Lord will need us to help to serve or to be there for one of his sons or daughters. We are his hands of we choose to be, and if we are ready and prepared.

I love you family
